Description:
The Helle Fjellkniven 4 12C27 is a fixed outdoor knife with a traditional Scandinavian look. It has been a real classic for many years. The first design of this knife even dates back to 1934. This is the fourth version. The handle is comfortable for almost everyone and is just a little longer than the blade. That makes this an ideal knife for wood carving.
This version of the Helle Fjellkniven has a Sandvik 12C27 stainless steel blade. This is a hard steel that is not prone to rust or unwanted spots. In addition, you can also easily sharpen it yourself if the knife starts to lose some of its sharpness over time. The knife has a 'stick tang'. This is a traditional way of securing a blade to a handle, originating from the time when all knives were still forged. It means the knife is lightweight, making it a great choice for someone who is looking for a relatively long knife that isn't too heavy.
The handle is made from a single piece of curly birch. This is a golden-brown wood with a wavy pattern. Because of this, no two handles will be the same. The handle is sanded, polished and oiled by hand to give it its unique character.
Maintenance
Both the handle and the blade need to be dried with a soft towel if they get wet. We also recommended occasionally adding wax or oil.
The sheath should occasionally be impregnated with a colourless agent (grease or wax) to make sure it stays flexible. Dry the sheath carefully at room temperature if it gets wet.
All Helle knives are made and finished by hand. As such each knife is a unique masterpiece because every pattern is different.
