Blade Finish : |
Blackwashed ![BlackWash™ is a name given to a specific knife blade finish. This is a variation of the Stone Wash blade finish which has become very popular over the past few years. BlackWash is accomplished by first coating the blade black and then adding the stonewash finish. One of the main benefits is that it helps hide use scratches that occur over time.](https://duncansgunmakers.co.uk/catalog/media/info_icon.png) |

BESS Rating : |
139 ![Generally any number between 100-200 is exceptionally sharp, & a rating between 200-300 is also really sharp. Anything below 100 is what you would expect on a razor blade. Please click our BESS Rating link for a more in depth information sheet.](https://duncansgunmakers.co.uk/catalog/media/info_icon.png) |
Lock Type : |
Liner-Lock ![One of the most popular locking types in the knife world; The Linerlock is a locking mechanism for folding pocket knives. A Linerlock is a folding knife with a side-spring lock that can usually be opened and closed with one hand without repositioning the knife in the hand. The lock is self-adjusting for wear. Liner locks are beneficial because you can close the knife with one hand without switching grip, ideal for when you need both hands on the job. You'll find liner locks in both entry-level and high-end knives. It's a lock type that appeals to both knife newbies and enthusiasts alike.](https://duncansgunmakers.co.uk/catalog/media/info_icon.png) |

Ceramic Ball Bearings ![Ceramic balls are rounder, lighter, harder, and smoother than steel balls due to their lack of porousness. This reduces friction as well as energy loss, allowing your equipment to run more efficiently (and for longer) with ceramic ball bearings. They are able to run without lubrication, have low thermal expansion, are normally low density and have non-magnetic qualities. Ceramic bearings are said to be three to five times harder than steel bearings.](https://duncansgunmakers.co.uk/catalog/media/info_icon.png) |
Blade Material : |
CPM-20CV [Stainless] SUPERSTEEL |
Blade Treatment : |
Heat Treated ![Heat treating is a part of the knife making process that is designed to help harden the steel of the blade for use. Heat treating can be accomplished in four steps: normalize, quench, temper, and sand. Water is one of the most efficient quenching media where maximum hardness is desired, but there is a small chance that it may cause distortion and tiny cracking. When hardness can be sacrificed, mineral oils are often used. If you don't heat treat a blade the blade will not remain sharp or straight. It is prone to chipping and bending. Essentially, you'll have a knife-shaped metal piece. Even if the blade steel is good, it is useless until it is hardened.](https://duncansgunmakers.co.uk/catalog/media/info_icon.png) |
Handle Material : |
Carbon Fibre ![A brilliant material for knives: Lightweight, highly durable & incredibly nice to look at. Carbon fibers or carbon fibres are fibers about 5 to 10 micrometers in diameter and composed mostly of carbon atoms. Carbon fibers have several advantages: high stiffness, high tensile strength, high strength to weight ratio, high chemical resistance, high-temperature tolerance, and low thermal expansion. Though steel is generally considered the standard when it comes to construction and industrial settings, in terms of strength to weight ratios, carbon fiber is actually significantly stronger than steel. Carbon fiber is chemically stable, corrosion-resistant, and won't rust. Meaning it works well in harsh environments. Carbon fibre does not absorb water from the environment, and its resistance remains unchanged when immersed in water. It used to be outrageously expensive but now carbon fibre is becoming more affordable making it an incredibly appealing material on knives.](https://duncansgunmakers.co.uk/catalog/media/info_icon.png) |

Description:
The Kizer Sheepdog Mini is a solid pocket knife, designed by Chris Conaway from Sheepdog Knives. This is the smaller version of the first Kizer Sheepdog, which is 19.6 cm when opened. The Mini Sheepdog is only 15.8 cm when opened. A lot smaller! This makes the Mini Sheepdog a little more practical for daily use.
The proportions of blade and handle are striking. The S35VN steel blade is massive compared to the 'normal' handle. As such, the sheepsfoot blade might start to look a little like a cleaver. A pocket cleaver. The blade runs on ball bearings. As a result, the Mini Sheepdog opens easily and quickly.
The scales are made from Raffir Noble. This is a composite material made from copper, brass and synthetic resin. The blade has a stonewashed finish. As a result, traces of use hardly stand out.
