			| Lock Type : | Back-Lock ![The old school lock; for the classy gentleman. Backlock (or: Lockback, Back-Lock, Spinelock) is the mechanism in certain lockable pocketknives. The handle of a Lockback knife contains a mechanism that allows the blade to be locked in place and then unlocked again. The blade of a Lockback knife also has a small notch on the end of the tang. Lockbacks are by design totally ambidextrous – since actuation of the lock is done along the spine, they don't favor one hand over the other. They are also generally very strong – the lock bar is a lot thicker than a typical liner lock, being the same width as the blade stock itself. [Detailed Info]: At their core, backlocks are simply a derivative of the non-locking slipjoint. The lock bar is pinned to the scales of the blade, pivoting in the middle, and a bent spring anchored further back in handle provides upward pressure behind the pivot point, pressing the front of the lock bar downward. In the closed position, the lock bar sits on a ramp in the bottom of the tang which provides a detent for opening. When the blade is opened, the forward portion of the lock bar with its square protusion sits down into a matching square cutout on the top of the blade tang, locking it into position. The cutout on the tang matching the shape of the lock bar means that the lock bar has to be lifted out of the notch to release the blade. The spring bar thus keeps the lock closed until the bar is pressed from behind the pivot point against the spring tension opening the knife.](https://duncansgunmakers.co.uk/catalog/media/info_icon.png) |

			| Blade Material : | Böhler M390 ![M390 is one of the new "super steels". It is an ultra premium steel manufactured by Bohler-Uddeholm. It is a martenistic steel produced with third generation powder metallurgy. M390 steel is durable, more so than many other types of metal, it also has great polishability. It performs very well when ground. It is extremely tough and hardy, meaning it will last a long time. M390 steel is exceptionally resistant to corrosive materials and rusting. It is praised for its excellent sharpness retention. M390 is so wear and tear resistant it also properly maintains the shape of the edge. As such a knife made from M390 steel will retain its sharpness for a very long time. This means you don't have to sharpen your knife as often. Not only great because sharpening your knife takes time, but also because it means your knife will last longer. After all, the more often you sharpen your knife, the faster it will wear out. M390 is also relatively stainless. Because of the large amount of chrome rust won't stand a chance. [ History: ] Böhler M390 comes from the Böhler Edelstahl GmbH & Co KG factory in Kapfenberg, Austria. This manufacturer produces types of steel that are incredibly wear and tear resistant. The so-called 'specialty steels'. It might come as quite the surprise, but almost all types of steel as we know them today were not developed as knife steel. Many types of steel were developed for ball bearings or parts in jet engines. The same applies to Böhler M390. Even though Böhler M390 is one of the most popular and best performing types of steel on the market, Böhler developed it to be used in moulds for the injection moulding industry. When you look at the Böhler datasheet you can still see that it is listed as the primary purpose. The fact that it is also great for use in knives is considered to be an alternative purpose. For these moulds the steel also needs to be extremely wear and tear resistant. If you want to be able to take the same shape from one mould approx. 10.000 times, it shouldn't wear out between casting it the first or the 10.000th time. That is why these moulds are made from top-quality types of steel. It is therefore not that surprising that M390 is used as steel for moulds. The industrial market is, after all, much bigger. Böhler can sell a lot more kilos of steel to this industry than the knife industry where you are talking about relatively small and light-weight sheets of steel.](https://duncansgunmakers.co.uk/catalog/media/info_icon.png) (Stainless) SUPERSTEEL |

The MKM Goccia is the production version of the NEO. And no, we are not referring to the lead from The Matrix, but one of Jens Ansø’s most popular custom knives! An elegant knife with organic shapes.

The English translation of 'Goccia' is 'drop'. A reference to the droppoint-style shape of the blade. The blade is made from Böhler M390 steel. A popular type of steel from Austria that retains its sharpness for a long time. A nice detail is the flipper that subtly protrudes from the handle when closed. Not as large as with many other pocket knives, but just as efficient. The artistic, 3D milled handle is unique. It looks a lot like a 'ripple in still water'. Because these ripples move gradually from the middle of the handle from high to low, the handle nicely fills the palm of your hand. The linerlock that blocks the blade is deeply embedded in the Carbon Fibre handle. As such it hardly stands out and won't disrupt the elegant design of the handle. You carry the MKM Goccia with the deep-carry pocket clip.

Where do MKM Knives come from? MKM is a cooperation between Viper, LionSteel, Fox and Mercury. Four masters working in the Italian knife industry. It is no coincidence that they all come from the city: Maniago, northern Italy. The knife capital of Southern Europe. MKM stands for Maniago Knife Makers. |
