Back-Lock ![The old school lock; for the classy gentleman. Backlock (or: Lockback, Back-Lock, Spinelock) is the mechanism in certain lockable pocketknives. The handle of a Lockback knife contains a mechanism that allows the blade to be locked in place and then unlocked again. The blade of a Lockback knife also has a small notch on the end of the tang. Lockbacks are by design totally ambidextrous – since actuation of the lock is done along the spine, they don't favor one hand over the other. They are also generally very strong – the lock bar is a lot thicker than a typical liner lock, being the same width as the blade stock itself. [Detailed Info]: At their core, backlocks are simply a derivative of the non-locking slipjoint. The lock bar is pinned to the scales of the blade, pivoting in the middle, and a bent spring anchored further back in handle provides upward pressure behind the pivot point, pressing the front of the lock bar downward. In the closed position, the lock bar sits on a ramp in the bottom of the tang which provides a detent for opening. When the blade is opened, the forward portion of the lock bar with its square protusion sits down into a matching square cutout on the top of the blade tang, locking it into position. The cutout on the tang matching the shape of the lock bar means that the lock bar has to be lifted out of the notch to release the blade. The spring bar thus keeps the lock closed until the bar is pressed from behind the pivot point against the spring tension opening the knife.](https://duncansgunmakers.co.uk/catalog/media/info_icon.png) |

Description:
The Boker Scout has been firmly connected to our name since 1985. No one can say today if anyone would have expected that the Pocketknife would be one of the most successful and popular Knifes from our range. But these many years in short-lived fads, that are also not unusual on the knife market, is definitely special. While no other model has had as many versions as the Scout over the years, the basic specifications never changed.
The Boker Boy Scout breaks with this tradition and (while not changing the design) provides a smaller, pocket-friendlier version that plays to its strength primarily as compact everyday companion. The Boy Scout also has a significantly lower profile, yet is just as rugged and durable as its big brother. The nickel silver scales are CNC-machined for greater precision. The hollow ground blade made of stainless N690 is forged by Böhler and contributes with its memorable shape to the incomparable appearance of the Scout. A classic Backlock keeps the blade safely open. When the knife is opened, the spine locks into a notch on the back of the blade. To close the knife, push down the exposed part of the spine. The harmonic overall impression of this classic is completed by pleasantly shaped handle scales made of stag. Handmade in the Boker Knife Manufactory Solingen.
