[Medford] USMC Fixed Blade, S35VN PVD, American Made

The Medford USMC Fixed Blade S35VN PVD is a modern, high-end interpretation of the old USMC knife. This knife, made by different manufacturers, was a part of the standard gear of the US Marines during the Second World War. Greg Medford himself also served for the US Marines from 1988-1992. This connection gave him the urge to make a contemporary version of the old USMC knife.

While original USMC knives have a relatively simple construction of a carbon steel blade with steel knife guard and leather handle, Medford went all out. Large and overbuilt. Rock-solid. The blade is made from CPM S35VN-steel. Remarkable about this knife is that it was enhanced with a hollow grind that was applied by hand. That is already challenging for the pocket knives Medford normally produces, let alone for the 17 cm blade on the USMC Fixed! You would notice every flaw. That is why this is hard evidence of Medford Knives' craftsmanship.

The original handle made from stacked leather rings looks amazing. But not Medford. That is why he made a handle comprised of nicely milled G10 scales. This knife guard is placed before the scales. A remarkable construction you rarely come across. The 'buttcap' at the end of the handle is ingeniously secured within the G10 scales. Might look incredibly simple, but when you take a closer look at the construction and finish you have to conclude that this is a perfect level of knife making.

The Medford USMC Fighter comes with a nice leather sheath. That sheath is connected to Greg Medford, because his father used to make leather goods for his fellow police officers.

Please note: this knife is razor-sharp upon delivery. As such you carefully need to store this knife in each sheath, otherwise you will cut through the leather.
