Blade Finish : |
Blackwashed ![The Blackwashed finish is a blacked version of the stonewashed finish. It has a 'textured" look to it. This technique speeds up the normal aging process and creates a pocketed color effect on the blade, similar to the effect you would expect from an acid wash. The effect works on all different types of knife steel, but it shows up especially well on a darker blade as this provides more contrast. Blades with a stonewash finish have a rustic yet fine, high-quality surface created by means of controlled scratching. The blade is "washed" inside a drum containing different types of stones.](https://duncansgunmakers.co.uk/catalog/media/info_icon.png) |

Liner-Lock ![One of the most popular locking types in the knife world; The Linerlock is a locking mechanism for folding pocket knives. A Linerlock is a folding knife with a side-spring lock that can usually be opened and closed with one hand without repositioning the knife in the hand. The lock is self-adjusting for wear. Liner locks are beneficial because you can close the knife with one hand without switching grip, ideal for when you need both hands on the job. You'll find liner locks in both entry-level and high-end knives. It's a lock type that appeals to both knife newbies and enthusiasts alike.](https://duncansgunmakers.co.uk/catalog/media/info_icon.png) |

Ball Bearings ![These knives are special. They feature ball bearing washers that allow the blade to open smoothly around the pivot point with the help of a blade flipper on the tang of the knife. They work in an almost identical way to spring assisted knives, except there are no springs! This makes blade deployment extremely fast & is now, generally speaking, the most widespread popular method used by most knifemakers in the world today.](https://duncansgunmakers.co.uk/catalog/media/info_icon.png) |
Blade Material : |
CPM 20CV [Stainless] SUPERSTEEL |
Blade Treatment : |
Heat Treated ![Heat treating is a part of the knife making process that is designed to help harden the steel of the blade for use. Heat treating can be accomplished in four steps: normalize, quench, temper, and sand. Water is one of the most efficient quenching media where maximum hardness is desired, but there is a small chance that it may cause distortion and tiny cracking. When hardness can be sacrificed, mineral oils are often used. If you don't heat treat a blade the blade will not remain sharp or straight. It is prone to chipping and bending. Essentially, you'll have a knife-shaped metal piece. Even if the blade steel is good, it is useless until it is hardened.](https://duncansgunmakers.co.uk/catalog/media/info_icon.png) |
Handle Material : |
Timascus ![Consisting of two or more titanium alloys (currently CP and 6AL4V), Timascus is corrosion resistant, non-magnetic, and lightweight. It has the beautiful, upscale look of steel damascus without any of the disadvantages of steel that can disappoint some knife makers and collectors. Whereas Damascus steel is a general term given to pattern-welded steel alloys, Timascus is a trademarked brand name. Broadly speaking, we are talking about a titanium version of Damascus steel, with different titanium alloys pattern-welded together. Timascus is a simple portmanteau of “Titanium” and “Damascus”. Timascus, also known as Damascus titanium or even Moku-Ti, is an innovative material both in metallurgy and in the field of custom knife making. Timascus is a beautiful fusion of old world decorative techniques and modern metal-smithing.](https://duncansgunmakers.co.uk/catalog/media/info_icon.png) |

Titanium ![Titanium metal is a very durable metal for engineering applications because this metal is corrosion-resistant and also this metal is very strong and very light. It is 40% lighter than steel but as strong as high-strength steel. The biggest pro for titanium knives is that they are more corrosion resistant than steel. This is especially useful for divers, who will carry the knife of long periods of time in highly corrosive ocean water. Another pro is that titanium is lighter than steel. Reducing weight can help reduce strain during knife use. As the ninth-most abundant element in the Earth's crust, titanium is relatively rare. Research shows the strong and lightweight metal only accounts for roughly 0.63% of the Earth's crust. Titanium is obtained from various ores that occur naturally on the earth. The primary ores used for titanium production include ilmenite, leucoxene, and rutile. Other notable sources include anatase, perovskite, and sphene. Ilmenite and leucoxene are titaniferous ores.](https://duncansgunmakers.co.uk/catalog/media/info_icon.png) |

[Stainless] Steel ![Like all other kinds of steel, stainless steel is made primarily from iron and carbon in a two-step process. What makes stainless steel different is the addition of chromium (Cr) and other alloying elements such as nickel (Ni) to create a corrosion-resistant product. It's worth noting that over time and if not maintained correctly, rust can and will develop on stainless steel. Stainless steel is an extremely tough and highly durable material with high impact resistance. Part of the reason for this is that stainless steel has low susceptibility to brittleness at high and low temperatures. It has a design life expectancy of over fifty years.](https://duncansgunmakers.co.uk/catalog/media/info_icon.png) |

Dirk Pinkerton !["I began seriously making knives in 2005. That was when I purchased my first real grinder. How I got there came from a life long interest in knives. My father and brother always carried a knife and felt it was essential tool. For my father a pocket knife was something he used daily for any task. While he could appreciate the work and craftsmanship that went into a beautiful knife, he always believed them to be a tool first and to be used. I believe that is where I learned my design principals for knives. Most of my work is in straight forward, functional knives designed for a task, and to be used. My professional career was 18 years in the private security field for a large corporation. In that time I was able to train and work closely with several protection details, law enforcement, S.W.A.T., fire and life rescue, various military units and the Secret Service. Through this experience I began to understand how knives were looked upon as tools and weapons. This experience added a different dimension to my designs. It made me think about carrying and using a knife beyond a tool just for utility. During this time, I began collecting knives and became friends with legendary knife maker and designer, the late Darrel Ralph. Besides being my friend he was also my mentor. He opened the door to my knife making career. I used to bug him to make me knife that I designed or to modify one of his. Finally, he told me he made his designs and that if I wanted a particular design, I should learn how to make it. So, I did. He was always there to answer questions and give me subtle ideas on how to do something. He let me make mistakes and he celebrated my successes. He is missed. My knives are in use with US Military, Law Enforcement, EMS, around the world with many countries military and law enforcement agencies, along with people who just need a good knife for utility or self defense."](https://duncansgunmakers.co.uk/catalog/media/info_icon.png) |

Nylon ![Nylon has both excellent strength and abrasion resistance, allowing it to stand up to any sport. It has a fantastic elastic recovery meaning that fabrics can stretch to their limits without losing their shape. Besides, nylon has good resistance to sunlight, making it an excellent choice for activewear. Nylon is a generic designation for a family of synthetic polymers composed of polyamides (repeating units linked by amide links). Nylon is a silk-like thermoplastic, generally made from petroleum, that can be melt-processed into fibers, films, or shapes.](https://duncansgunmakers.co.uk/catalog/media/info_icon.png) |

Description:
The Kansept Main Street is a great pocket knife designed by Dirk Pinkerton. His designs have a distinctive Wharncliffe-style shape: a blade with a straight edge. This blade shape is suitable for kitchen tasks, opening packages, and other everyday cutting jobs.
This knife is part of Kansept's budget-friendly T-series. These are functional, affordable pocket knives. You open the blade with the thumb stud, then a liner lock locks the blade in place. The Main Street has a pocket clip so you can comfortably carry it in your trouser pocket.
The handle is made from high grade timascus, this is layered titanium forged into itself to strengthen the material and during the process creates a gorgeous blue and purple pattern.
The blade of this Kansept knife is made from CPM-20CV steel. This is a supersteel with great sharpness retention. It's basically an alternate version of Bohler M390 supersteel.
