Description:
The Spyderco Stovepipe is a cool pocket knife, designed by David Rydbom from Kingdom Armory. The design of the stovepipe is derived from David Rydbom's 'Bill the Butcher' design. One of his famous custom knives.
Characterizing for this unique design is the high, dramatic cleaver-style blade. Spyderco enhanced the blade with a hollow grind. As such the knife, despite its 4 mm thick blade, is amazing to use. The blade is made from premium CPM 20CV. This type of steel can be compared to the famous Böhler M390 steel. 20CV steel retains its sharpness well, is stainless and very hard.
The handle is made from titanium and enhanced with milled parts. At first glance the handle looks quite angular. Spyderco, however, slightly rounded the scales for a comfortable grip. The blade is locked by a titanium framelock when opened. The ring around the pivot is not only decorative, it also functions as an overtravel stop. It ensures that the framelock is not pushed out too far. The robust pocket clip is milled from one piece of titanium.
The whole design features a stonewashed finish, giving it its industrial look and feel while hiding wear marks caused over time. The Stovepipe is made in Spyderco's Taichung factory in Taiwan. This factory is known for its top-quality finishes.
