With this Barlow Prime Böker took another step back in time. The blade is namely made from O1 carbon steel. Not stainless, but like how they used to make it. Even easier to sharpen razor-sharp, which is a great advantage. Carbon steel also forms a patina in time. It changes colour because of fruit acids and moisture. That is why a couple drop of oil once in a while will keep it in great shape. Böker helped the blade out with a coarse etched finish.
Castle Burg - Schloss edition
This is a special edition of the famous Böker pocket knife: the Schloss Burg-edition. . Castle Burg is a centuries-old castle in Solingen, Germany, not far from the Böker workshop. The castle was built on the remains of a 10th century fort and was completed in 1133. It is one of the largest castles in the west of Germany and throughout the centuries the inhabitants of Schloss Burg fulfilled important roles. Take, for instance, Count Engelbert II, arch bishop of Cologne.
During the renovations parts of the oak frame of Schloss Burg were replaced, and these centuries-old parts were used by Böker to produce this handle. A real piece of history within reach! Only 1133 pieces of this knife were produced. A reference to the year the castle was finished: 1133. Each piece is adorned with a number and a Böker shield with Baumwerk logo completes the whole.
You open it with two hands and when opened a slipjoint will lock the blade. Please note: it won't completely block the blade like a backlock would!
