Description:
The Helle JS Limited Edition 2022 is a beautiful knife, designed by Jan Steffen Helle. He is the grandson of Sigmund Helle, one of the founders of the brand. And since this year marks 90 years since the brothers Sigmund and Steinar built their own forge, their grandsons were eager to honour the designs of their ancestors. The Helle JS is therefore inspired by Helle's first high-end line: the Fjellkniven series. This means that this JS has the original Norwegian engraving with the brand and the initials of the maker. JS on the blade therefore stands for Jan Steffen. And the supplied leather sheath is also just like the sheaths that were made in the past. With a beautiful Norwegian pattern.
The handle has a layered construction of curly birchwood and red leather. The steel used for this knife is the signature type of steel patented by Helle: a core of hard stainless steel, surrounded by layers of 18/8 stainless steel. The knife is razor sharp, and it's also easy to sharpen. In summary, the JS is an eye-catching piece that certainly does justice to the legacy of Steinar and Sigmund Helle.
Maintenance
Both the handle and the blade need to be dried with a soft towel if they get wet. We also recommended occasionally adding wax or oil.
The sheath should occasionally be impregnated with a colourless agent (grease or wax) to make sure it stays flexible. Dry the sheath carefully at room temperature if it gets wet.
All Helle knives are made and finished by hand. As such each knife is a unique masterpiece because every pattern is different.
