 Description:

The CRKT Du Hoc 2630 is a remarkable and tough karambit, designed by Austin McGlaun. This American veteran became inspired by his experiences in the middle-east where he was deployed with the 187th Rakkasans. Today he designs and produces knives as a veteran. Mostly aimed to be used by soldiers like himself, and of course by knife enthusiasts who appreciate that. The name Du Hoc comes from Pointe du Hoc in France, where an important battle was fought during the battle for Normandy after D-Day in 1944. An uncle of Austin McGlaun was given a Silver Star for Honor medal for his brave act during this battle.

Austin always says that his knives are black, undecorated and ugly, and are purely made to be used. Everything is matt black and the shapes are rather bulky. The blade of the Du Hoc is made from SK5-steel. A type of carbon steel which excels because it is tough and easy to sharpen. Not 100% stainless, but that is where the matt coating comes in handy. In terms of shape it is a hawkbill, as you might expect from a karambit knife. The tip of the spine is sharpened, the rest of the spin was kept thin to make sure you can decide yourself if you want to sharpen it later on.

At the end of the handle you will find a large finger ring which you can use for your pink or index finger, depending on how you want to hold the knife. With many karambits the designer ensures that you can use the ring to quickly turn the knife in your hand. McGlaun, however, added protrusions that teach you how to hold the knife and prevent it from turning in your hand.

The CRKT Du Hoc comes with a plastic sheath. It is enhanced with different mounting holes which you use to attach the included belt clip. In addition, the sheath comes with a screw which you can use to adjust the strength of the retention.
