SK-85 Carbon Steel ![Sk85 Sk5 is a Japanese high-range Carbon steel. After quenching and tempering, sk5 steel has high hardness and wear resistance. The maximum hardness can be up to 65 HRC. It’s used in a wide range of tools (Razor blades, utility knives, scalpel blades, long edged tools, cutting tools) due to its workability, hardenability, price, and other features. It offers decent corrosion resistance, but it must be taken care of to avoid future rust and corrosion. Generally speaking the harder the steel, the harder to sharpen it, SK5 can get very hard (62-63 HRC), which makes sharpening a bit hard. Overall SK5 is very tough steel with great impact resistance, the steel offers a great balance between hardness and toughness at the cost of corrosion resistance.](https://duncansgunmakers.co.uk/catalog/media/info_icon.png) |
Blade Treatment : |
Heat Treated ![Heat treating is a part of the knife making process that is designed to help harden the steel of the blade for use. Heat treating can be accomplished in four steps: normalize, quench, temper, and sand. Water is one of the most efficient quenching media where maximum hardness is desired, but there is a small chance that it may cause distortion and tiny cracking. When hardness can be sacrificed, mineral oils are often used. If you don't heat treat a blade the blade will not remain sharp or straight. It is prone to chipping and bending. Essentially, you'll have a knife-shaped metal piece. Even if the blade steel is good, it is useless until it is hardened.](https://duncansgunmakers.co.uk/catalog/media/info_icon.png) |

Description:
The Böker Plus M3 Trench Knife is a cool dagger. A replica from the M3 Knife from the Second WW. This knife was introduced in 1943 as a fixed knife for people who didn't already carry a bayonet. The design looks a lot like the famous USMC Knife which was produced by, amongst others KA-BAR. The main difference, however, can be found in the fact that the M3 is sharp on both sides.
The piercing tip of the Böker Plus M3 Trench Knife is sharpened on both sides. To prevent your hand from slipping en ending up on the edge, the knife was enhanced with a steel knife guard.
To meet the demand of the US Department of Defence during the Second WW, the M3 Trench Knife was produced by several knife companies. Amongst others by the American branch of Böker: H. Böker & Co. And this is how you come full-circle and end up with this contemporary Böker Plus version of the M3 Trench Knife. A real collector's object.
The Böker M3 Trench Knife comes with a solid steel 'scabbard' that is great for both left and right-handed use. It also contains a mounting hook to attach it to your military gear.
