*Nichols* Damascus ![Damascus steel is a famed type of steel recognizable by the watery or wavy light and dark pattern of the metal. Damascus Steel is very popular because it offers excellent blade properties such as strength and durability with good flexibility for cutting. Aside from being beautiful, Damascus steel is valued because it maintains a keen edge, yet is hard and flexible. Knives & Tools made from Damascus steel are vastly superior to those formed from iron! Although modern high-carbon steels made using the 19th century Bessemer process surpass the quality of Damascus steel, the original metal remains an outstanding material, particularly for its day. There are two types of Damascus steel: cast Damascus steel and pattern-welded Damascus steel. Damascus steel is beautiful, very sharp, and very tough. It was superior to other alloys used for swords at the time. A Damascus blade will retain its sharpness for longer than most production quality blades. Damascus steel requires special care for it to retain its original luster and beauty. Many hand-forged Damascus blades are made out of high carbon steel with small amounts of chromium in the alloy. While high in carbon steel, the blade can easily rust if not cared for.](https://duncansgunmakers.co.uk/catalog/media/info_icon.png) |

When finished properly, rosewood makes for an excellent knife handle that can really set the knife apart from others. Rosewood is commonly used for furniture, musical instruments, decorative items and veneers. Advantages: hard, tough and very strong wood. attractive wood grain. The Rosewood tree (a species of Dalbergia): branch with flowers and pods and separate sections of flowers, pod and seeds. Rosewood is one of the most exploited species of trees around the world, as it is used in making luxurious furniture, musical instruments, as well as producing rosewood oil, bringing its species to the brink of extinction. Description:
The Böker P08 Damascus 121515DAM is a cool fixed knife, with a historical reference. The Lüger P08 is namely the world-famous pistol that was used in Germany from 1904 to 1945. As such it is one of the most iconic weapons from the First and Second World War. This pistol was also used outside of Germany: the Dutch navy and air force used the P08 in the twenties, the French used over 4000 of them after the Second World War and even in Norway the P08 became a standard service pistol after 1945. So a lot of history.
Böker used this pistol as a source of inspiration for this fixed dagger knife. The handle with diamond pattern and the way the scales are secured with the screws immediately make you think of the P08 pistol.
Not only cosmetically there is a link to the P08. The material is also closely related to the pistol. Böker namely asked Chad Nichols to forge damascus steel from the same steel used to produce the barrel of this pistol. The handle is made from cool Rosewood. A tropical type of hard wood.
Böker designed the P08 as a boot dagger, we think of it more like a showcase knife. It does come with a nice leather sheath. The sheath is enhanced with a practical UltiClip to attach it to the edge of your pocket.
Only a limited amount of this knife was produced. Each knife is numbered and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
