440A ![440 stainless steel is the highest grade of cutlery steel on the market. It contains more carbon, allowing for high edge retention when properly treated. When properly treated, it is capable of attaining one of the highest hardness ratings of any other steel on the Rockwell scale. Given its low cost and high toughness, it is extremely popular in the production of cutlery and replica swords. 440 stainless steel is very hard, but is formable once annealed for the most part. Other properties include: • High corrosion resistance • Heat resistance • Abrasion resistance • Heat treatable. 440 stainless steel may be further broken down into four categories. When it comes to the differences between 440 stainless, the four different grades are all specialized in their ways. The only difference between these grades is the amount of carbon involved. As such, they are ranked from least-to-most carbon content. With the least amount of carbon among the four types, makes 440A stainless the most stain-resistant. It is the most ideal for diving and saltwater applications that require superior corrosion resistance.](https://duncansgunmakers.co.uk/catalog/media/info_icon.png) |

Curly Birch Wood ![Birch wood is highly durable because of its great strength and can last long more than our lifetime easily with proper care. Curly birch is a variant of the plant species silver birch with a genetic defect that causes the tree to twist on the stem with curls. The annual rings are oriented incorrectly, which gives the wood a fiery appearance. The variant originally comes from Karelia in Finland and Russia. The traditional material used for Finnish knife handles is curly birch. The wood comes from the curly birch belt in Central Finland. The blaze-patterned curly birch is an excellent material for knife handles, because it's durable and beautiful.](https://duncansgunmakers.co.uk/catalog/media/info_icon.png) |

Description:
The Böker Magnum Elk Hunter is a small, practical hunting and outdoor knife. As the name implies, it is a hunting knife, so it's ideal for gutting game. However, due to its relatively small blade, the knife can be used for many other purposes. For instance, in the garden or around the campfire.
Böker Magnum Elk Hunter blade
The blade is made from 440A steel. This is a tough stainless steel that is easy to sharpen. The handle is made from rosewood, sometimes also referred to as violet wood. It's a beautiful, classic wood. Of course, rosewood is a natural material. This means that differences can occur, so each knife is therefore unique. The knife comes with a leather sheath.
