Both sides of the axe head have been sharpened. Here the broad side is better for splitting jobs. The narrower side of the axe head is mostly suited because of its piercing qualities. It is for a reason that this side might remind you of a tanto-style knife. The light-weight design makes carrying the axe with you incredibly easy.
