Friction Folder ![A friction folder has a freely moving blade without any restraints or locking mechanisms. This knife features an extended tang to open the blade quickly and to keep the opened blade in place with the hand that holds the knife. This knife design has been used for centuries. Friction Folders are non-locking making them ideal for UK legal pocket knives. Friction folding knives are the original folding pocket knife. Before the invention of slipjoint and locking knives, all folding knives used the friction of the blade tang against the handle and the pressure of your hand to stay open. The absence of a lock means that these knives are best for light cutting tasks. Friction folders have also been known as "penny knives" but that's from many years in the past.](https://duncansgunmakers.co.uk/catalog/media/info_icon.png) |

Description:
The Böker Manufaktur Graf Everhardt 140518 is a top-quality straight razor. It is a part of three straight razors which Böker produced to celebrate the three Count van Berg who all come from the region around Solingen. Take, for instance, Count Engelbert II, arch bishop of Cologne. It is also how Böker depicted him on the blade in 24-carat gold leaf.
The blade of this straight razor is made from 1.2210 carbon steel. Enhanced with an extra-hollow grind and therefore a little flexible. As such the razor moves with the face. However, this also means that for heavy beard growth this knife isn't as easy to use. It is, however, still possible. The blade height is 5/8", which is relatively high. The tip is round. The tang in between the blade and the handle is enhanced with grip serrations on both sides to make sure you have more control over the razor.
Böker has been producing straight razors for over a hundred years and has an excellent reputation in this field. This straight razor is made in the Böker workshop in Solingen, Germany.
Not far from the company headquarters of the Boker manufacture in Solingen we find the hallmark of the Bergisches Land region, the castle Burg an der Wupper. It is also one of the largest castles in western Germany and the largest reconstructed castle in North Rhine-Westphalia. The famous history of Castle Burg is inseparably linked to the Duchy Berg and the counts von Berg (Haus Berg 1068-1225). On this occasion we decided to dedicate a series of Straight Razors to the three counts von Berg, which symbolizes parts of the life of the three counts and reminds us of the remarkable property and influence of the counts with impressive ornamentations made from 24 carat gold.
The strikingly ground and gilded blade back of the polished 5/8 inch blade is an absolute highlight of the Boker selection. The elements of the blade etching decorated with 24 carat gold are reminiscent of the realm of Count Everhard von der Mark with the coat of arms of the city of Hamm, which is derived from the House Berg. The tang, the blade with the rounded head, comes with a two-sided serration. The blade is ground extra hollow with ridge. Delivered in a refined presentation display with certificate of authenticity and individual serial number.
Solingen 1.2210 carbon steel
Böker used Solingen carbon steel for this straight razor. Although the technical number 1.2210 might not mean that much to most, the term Solingen steel has an excellent reputation worldwide. You could even say that a part of Solingen's reputation as a knife city is the result of the excellent steel quality. After sharpening it is razor-sharp which leaves you with even softer and more comfortable results.
Böker made sure that this straight razor is ready to be used as it is delivered to your doorstep. This means that it is razor-sharp: you can immediately get started.
