The FN P90 is a compact personal defense weapon (PDW) and submachine gun designed by FN Herstal in Belgium, chambered for the 5.7×28mm cartridge. Developed in response to NATO's request for a replacement for the 9×19mm firearms, the P90 features a bullpup design, integrated reflex sight, and fully ambidextrous controls. Its distinctive appearance and top-mounted, high-capacity magazine make it an innovative and highly maneuverable weapon, ideal for vehicle crews, support personnel, special forces, and counter-terrorist units.

Introduced in 1990, the P90 was developed alongside the FN Five-seven pistol and the 5.7×28mm ammunition to provide greater range, accuracy, and armor penetration than traditional 9mm rounds. The weapon's unconventional bullpup design allows it to remain compact while maintaining a 50-round magazine capacity. It has a cyclic rate of fire of 850–1,100 rounds per minute and features fully ambidextrous controls, a horizontal feeding system, and an integrated sighting system, making it versatile and effective in various operational environments.

The P90 is in use with military and police forces in over 40 countries, including the United States, France, India, and Brazil, and is favored by special forces and counter-terrorist units for its compact size, firepower, and armor-piercing capabilities. In the U.S., it is utilized by over 200 law enforcement agencies, including the Secret Service. A semi-automatic version, the PS90, has been available to civilian users since 2005, featuring a longer barrel to comply with civilian regulations.
