[Extrema Ratio] Herring Dagger, Böhler N690, Made in Italy

Dagger Herring is one of the most loved knives by the fans. Its original name is Fairbairn-Sykes or Commando Dagger and it was presented in the co***t set of the British Commandos.

A dagger that enters the history of our country in the Second World War, thanks to the young soldiers exploits of the 1st Reconnaissance Squadron “Folgore”, which were equipped with this during Operation Herring. A dagger that has behind it an heroic piece of history about which little is said, despite the devotion to the cause and the courage of these young boys have written an important page of Italian history. Extrema Ratio wanted to pay homage to this dagger keeping the original design using the most modern production techniques.

The unique handmade finish of the handle imitates the ageing of the brass and it gives the dagger a dated look, similar to the original one. The dagger was developed in collaboration with 185th RRAO and adopted as a ceremonial commemorative dagger for the 20 years since the regiment’s constitution and 75 years since the Herring mission. Both versions (Herring and Herring NE) are equipped with a polymer case with historical frieze of the Squadrone F, leather / kydex sheath with brass point and two commemorative scrolls. The Extrema Ratio Herring is Extrema Ratio's modern interpretation of the well-known Fairbairn Sykes. The Fairbairn Sykes was a dagger from the Second World War and was originally part of the standard equipment of the British commandos.

The dagger was first used in Italy by soldiers of the 1st Reconnaissance Squadron ‘Folgore’. They were equipped with that dagger during Operation Herring, hence the name of this knife. The Extrema Ratio Herring was developed in collaboration with the 185th RRAO. It is the ceremonial commemorative dagger for the 20th anniversary of the regiment's founding, as well as the Herring mission, which took place 75 years ago.

Extrema Ratio has furnished the dagger with a beautiful brass handle. The brass has a patina that makes it look like an antique. The Herring is equipped with a beautiful leather sheath with the emblem of the 1st Reconnaissance Squadron. Böhler N690 steel blade
The blade is made from Austrian Böhler N690 steel. This is a stainless steel with long sharpness retention that is also used for surgical tools. N690 is highly durable and can be sharpened until razor sharp.
