Blade made of CPM S45VN steel
The blade of this Medford TFF-1 is made of CPM S45VN steel. This is a premium type of stainless steel made by Crucible Industries in the US. S45VN retains its sharpness well, is pretty tough and very corrosion resistant. CPM S45VN was developed as a successor to CPM S35VN. S45VN retains its sharpness even better than S35VN, and is even more resistant to corrosion too.
Titanium handle
The handle of the TFF-1 is made of titanium and measures 14.1 cm in length. Titanium is a fantastic high-tech material. It is an excellent choice for the handle of a pocket knife for several reasons: titanium is very strong, lightweight and it is flexible. Moreover, titanium can be machined very precisely and a wide range of different finishes are possible. To be exact, the handle is made of a titanium alloy. Small amounts of aluminium and vanadium are added to pure titanium to make it even more suitable for use as a pocket knife handle.
About Medford Knives
Medford Knives are impressive, sturdy, and above all, unique. The brand was founded by knifemaker Greg Medford, who started Medford Knife & Tool with the aim of creating honest, top-quality knives. He oversees the entire production process in-house. Every component of a Medford folding knife is made in his own factory in Phoenix, Arizona, USA. All blades are hollow-ground by hand by Medford and his skilled craftsmen—something very few manufacturers do. Medford even refers to his production method as 'Hand Tech.'
Each Medford knife is handcrafted by talented knifemakers, meaning individual differences occur, making every knife one of a kind. Medford's lead times are around a year. However, if a knife is listed as in stock on our website, that means we have it in stock; ready to ship. Be quick—new stock can take a long time to arrive!
