The Fox Knives Radius is a remarkable pocket knife. At the 2019 Blade Show in Atlanta, Georgia USA this knife won awards for the best imported knife and Overall Knife of the Year. This is already great, but with this Limited Edition version Fox takes it up a notch. Exceptional materials and a unique box. But more about that later. This model was only produced 103 times. So very limited!
Aside from the stunning materials used and an exclusive character the Fox Knives Radius is truly a revolutionary pocket knife. The thumb stud is added to the handle and also functions as a lock. Really unique! By pushing the thumb stud you can unlock the knife to make sure you can close it. No one has ever done that. And crazily enough this is a type of invention that might make you think: why didn't anyone ever think of this before.
Damacore blade
We already mentioned it before: exclusive materials. Fox Knives truly outdid itself here. The blade is made from
Damacore damasteel. The original Damasteel is starting to make a name for itself in the knife world, but Damacore is quite the newcomer. It is basically the well-known Damasteel (comprised of RWL34 and PMC27 steel) with a N11X steel core in between.
Many letters and numbers, but what does it mean? It means that Damacore is comprised of three types of powder metalluric steel. This is steel with a very fine structure at a microscopic level to make sure it will retain its sharpness well. RWL34 and PMC27 are corrosion resistant types of steel that, combined, form the irregular pattern on the sides. The N11X core is different story. This type of steel is a part of the exclusive club of 'nitrogen types of steel'. This means that the steel doesn't contain a lot of carbon, but a lot of nitrogen. As such the steel still retains its sharpness well, but is less prone to rust. Damacore was introduced in 2018 and is mainly used by producers of exclusive custom knives. Fox is one of the first production companies who introduced a 'production knife' using this type of steel.
So a really cool blade. But what about the handle? It is made from carbon fibre. We have seen that before. The unique thing, however, is that the carbon fibre is enhanced with copper. Not the strands you sometimes see, but it looks like the copper was woven through the carbon fibre. Stunning. It looks great in combination with the copper-coloured screws, pocket clip and thumb stud.
A very cool box.
Such a unique knife, of course, comes with a great box. A luxurious gift box that contains a drawer that holds the knife. But on top there is another something unique: the left-over piece of Damacore the knife was cut from! Numbered and all! This is a really cool way of completing the whole. In the bottom of the box you will find a luxurious leather storage case, made from fine Italian leather.
With only 103 pieces this is a very limited production run. Only available while stocks last.
