[Böker Plus] Micro Tracker 2.0

The Böker Plus Micro Tracker 2.0, 02BO117 is a compact survival knife, designed by Dave Wenger. It is the Micro version of the Böker Plus Mini Tracker. The blade is no less than 4.5 cm shorter! This is the 2.0 version of the famous model. The difference is that screws are now used to attach the blade to the handle. Smaller, but not any less functional. Use it for small tasks such as producing feather sticks or creating notches in wood. For wooden tent pegs, for instance.

The special Tracker shaped blade may take some getting used to. However, when you see the quality of the knife and notice how you can use the shape in your advantage it is suddenly a great survival tool. Online you can find examples of the special techniques you can use with the Tracker. Think of 'pulling' wood shavings for a featherstick with the hollow side in the middle of the edge.

Like its big brother: an outdoor knife such as this deserves a solid construction. That is why Böker used 1095 carbon steel. An incredibly strong type of steel that is popular for survival knives. 1095 is quite flexible and very tough. It won't break easily. As such it can handle its own. Do, however, be careful: 1095 is not completely stainless. Fortunately Böker enhanced the blade with a coating. But the edge and potential wear and tear in the coating can occasionally use a couple drops of oil.

The handle is made from micarta. An incredibly strong material that feels great in hand. Even in wet circumstances. When wet, the fibres in the material swell up to make sure you have even more grip over the knife.

Blade made of 1095 carbon steel

The blade of this fixed knife is made of 1095 carbon steel, and measures 8.5 cm in length. 1095 steel can be seen as a true veteran in the world of steel. It has been made and used for many years. Micarta handle

The handle of the Micro Tracker 2.0 is made of micarta. This is a composite material made of fabric and synthetic resin. If you look closely, you can see a subtle texture on the surface, sometimes it looks almost like wood. This material is strong and stable, and it's very grippy.

The Micro Tracker 2.0 comes with a sheath made of kydex, a sturdy plastic that will keep the steel safe. However, it is important to keep a kydex sheath clean on the inside. Rinse it regularly with water. This will prevent dirt from remaining in the sheath, which can scratch the blade.
