Description:

The Walther LGU is a high-quality German-made spring-powered single-shot underlever air rifle from Walther.

It uses a traditional spring-and-piston powerplant with modern refinements like Silent Spring Technology and a Vibration Reduction System to deliver a notably smooth and quiet firing cycle compared to many other springers. The underlever cocking system includes an anti-bear-trap safety mechanism, and the piston is designed to rotate freely to minimise torque and vibration on firing.

Key features include a precision Lothar Walther barrel, a two-stage adjustable match trigger (often factory-set light and crisp for a springer), and an ambidextrous beech wood stock with ergonomic shaping, chequering on the pistol grip, and a schnabel fore-end tip.

It was sold in both .177 and .22 calibres. Typical dimensions are around 1060–1070 mm overall length with a carbine-length barrel of roughly 285–300 mm. Unscoped weight is typically in the region of 4.3–4.2 kg (around 9–9.5 lbs), giving it a solid, stable feel that helps with consistency once shouldered.

Performance

In performance terms, the LGU is widely regarded as one of the best out-of-the-box springers in its class. Reviewers and owners consistently praise its inherent accuracy (often capable of tight groups at 40–45 yards with good pellets), smooth cocking stroke, low recoil signature thanks to the engineering, and quiet report.

It competes directly with established underlevers like the Air Arms TX200 and Weihrauch HW97, frequently matching or exceeding them in smoothness and stock accuracy while offering strong build quality and value. It suits target shooting, hunter field target, plinking, and small-game hunting when paired with appropriate technique and pellets.

Why get this one?

For the specific second-hand Beech model in Minimal Wear condition with slight marking, this represents an excellent example of the rifle. The beech stock provides a classic, comfortable, and stable platform that many shooters prefer for its natural feel and aesthetics.

“Minimal Wear with slight marking” indicates very light previous use — essentially a near-new rifle that has been well cared for, with only minor cosmetic signs of handling rather than any functional wear on the action, barrel, or internals. This condition significantly reduces the usual risks associated with buying used air rifles, as there is little chance of hidden issues like seal degradation or spring fatigue if it has been stored properly.

The inclusion of the original box adds meaningful value: it confirms provenance, shows the rifle has been looked after by a careful owner, and makes future resale or insurance claims easier.

The bundled 3-9x40 AOIR Airmax scope is a practical, capable optic for this class of rifle — the adjustable objective helps with parallax correction across typical airgun ranges, and the illuminated reticle aids low-light visibility. Mounted and zeroed, it turns the package into a ready-to-shoot outfit without immediate extra spend on glass.

Excellent Value

This combination offers outstanding value. You get a premium German-engineered underlever that delivers top-tier smoothness, consistency, and accuracy in a refined package, at a second-hand price that is typically well below new retail for an equivalent model.

The Minimal Wear condition with only slight marking means you are essentially acquiring a low-mileage rifle that has already been broken in gently, without the full cost or the uncertainty of a brand-new untested unit. The original box enhances its appeal as a cared-for example, while the included Hawke scope provides immediate usability for sighting in and shooting — saving time and money on sourcing and fitting optics separately.

Summary

Overall, it is a complete, high-performing setup ideal if you want a capable springer for regular use without jumping into more expensive PCP territory or settling for lesser springers. The LGU’s reputation for shooting well straight away (or with very light tuning) makes this low-wear Beech example particularly attractive for someone seeking reliability and enjoyment from day one.

Due to Duncans high reputation for checking all rifles on arrival, this proves a high-reward acquisition that should provide years of accurate, pleasurable shooting.

Very slight marks on the gun, has a nice original Hawke Airmax scope with a great zoom range that fits the gun perfectly. This is one of the best original German spring rifles that was made and shoots lovely. They rarely come up for purchase.

Has original box for the gun!
