Description:
The Böker Scout Solingen is a remarkable edition of the famous Böker Scout. As they were celebrating their 150th anniversary in 2019 the mayor of Solingen asked Böker if they could produce a knife with the city colours of Solingen: yellow and blue. The mayor was namely looking for a special gift for guests and high officials.
Böker got to work and quickly ended up with the Scout. A very popular model that appeals to the imagination. To make sure the yellow colour looks stylish on the knife Böker made the frame that is usually made from nickel silver from brass. The golden yellow colour looks amazing with the blue chest-nut wood scales. Of course a reference to the chestnut tree at the Böker Manufaktur that has also been a part of the Böker logo for years.
You open the Böker Scout Solingen with two hands. When opened a solid backlock locks the blade. The blade is made from high carbon steel: D2. Not stainless, but tough and easy to sharpen. The coarse acid stonewash finish on the blade protects it against rust, but it can still use a couple drops of oil now and again.
Tradition has it that misfortune comes from giving a knife as a gift. That is why it is tradition to also gift a coin to make sure the receiver can 'purchase' the knife. As a nod to this tradition Böker has added a coin in a keychain to the Böker Scout Solingen.
At Böker they are proud of all knives that are produced in the Solinger Manufaktur. This Scout Solingen, however, is of course even more special. A top-notch pocket knife, made in Solingen, for Solingen.
