The blade of the Leatherman ARC is made of CPM MagnaCut steel. It's perhaps one of the most revolutionary steels of the 21st century. MagnaCut offers an unrivalled balance between sharpness retention, toughness, corrosion resistance and ease of sharpening. Since its release in 2021, CPM Magnacut has become one of the most popular steels in the knife world in a very short time.

You can easily open the blade with the thumb stud. The blade is enhanced with a black DLC coating. DLC stands for Diamond Like Carbon, it's a coating that is even harder than steel. DLC is very scratch resistant, and this coating protects the blade against corrosion. Though this coating is very tough, it's just a thin layer after all: in time you will always see traces of use.

 

Leatherman FREE technology

For the ARC, Leatherman has applied the innovative FREE technology. While most multi-tools rely on friction between the parts to keep the tool closed, the ARC is different. The frame is enhanced with a magnet that makes sure the steel frame stays closed. This also means that once the magnet is 'loose', the multi-tool opens smoothly.

Not only the pliers are easily accessible. The other tools in this multi-tool can also easily be opened. No more hassle with broken nails or painful finger tips in cold circumstances: all tools are equipped with a lock. The lock is a type of back lock. With some practice, you can operate it with one hand.

 

Leatherman ARC tools

Most tools, like the blade, the saw and the scissors, can be opened from the outside of the tool. With a little practice, this can also easily be done one-handed. So when you are standing on a ladder and hold something above your head with one hand you can simply use the other to grab the Leatherman ARC and get to work. Super convenient! On the inside of the tool you will find combination pliers with wire cutters and crimping pliers. The large pliers, for instance, are enhanced with interchangeable wire cutters. As such you can sharpen them, or even replace them.
