Description:
The Condor Ötzi Knife 3922-2.2HC is a remarkable knife. This knife is based on a knife made from fire stone that was found next to the ice mummy called Ötzi. Designer Joe Flowers used that knife and turned it into a contemporary version.
The Condor Ötzi Knife is enhanced with a remarkable edge: it has a primary scandi grind, but with a convex finish. This is also called a 'scandivex'. As such you can benefit from the advantages of a scandi and convex grind at the same time. Great for wood work.
The blade of the Condor Ötzi is made from 1095 carbon steel. A strong type of steel that is easy to sharpen and can handle quite a bit. 1095, however, is not completely stainless. As such you need to clean it regularly and add a drop of oil once in a while. The handle is made from American hickory wood. This type of wood is known for its strength. It is for a reason that this type of wood has been used for axes and hammer handles for years. The handle is wound with bronze wire. This will discolour in time and form a patina which will make each knife unique.
The Condor Ötzi comes with a leather sheath. It is enhanced with a leather strap you can use to hang it around your neck or shoulder.
Condor is known for its favourably priced knives. They are made in El Salvador by craftsmen. Are you looking for display pieces? If so you might need to continue your search. Condor produces knives that are meant to be used. You might have something to say about the finish. However, this simply suits the knives Condor produces. Especially when you look at the favourable prices, which they are definitely worth.
